Justice ?

Wall St fraudsters are still at liberty and food speculators walking around free, SOYMB reads of a man in Texas sentenced to 50 years in prison for the shop-lifting $35 dollars worth of ribs from a supermarket. He will have to serve at least a quarter of his sentence before being eligible for parole.
A jury in Waco took just two minutes to convict Ward for robbery and an hour to recommend a sentence. Ward already had five previous felonies and four convictions for misdemeanours

Assistant District Attorney J.R. Vicha, prosecuting, told Ward: “This verdict shows that the citizens of this county will not tolerate a continued disrespect and disregard for other people and their property. People who choose to do so will be dealt with seriously and appropriately.”
In 2010 the cost of housing Texas's 154,000 prisoners was $3.3 billion. America imprisons 737 people per 100,000, compared to Britain's 148. It is the highest incarceration rate on earth . America's notoriously "deterrent" sentences for quite petty crimes do not appear to be deterring anyone very much.
There is a law for the rich, the bankers, the politicians the world over Justice does not exist if you a poor. The real criminal is the economic system.
