A Letter AWL Declined to Publish

Duncan Morrison (Solidarity 348 Letters, 7 January 2015) is quite right to be irate with the lack of a more critical approach to Labour. He may then have been disappointed with that issue's editorial 'What should socialists do in the General Election?' stating 'the only alternative government is Ed Miliband’s Labour Party' and 'we should support the election of a Labour government'. Morrison describes the reluctance to rock the Labour party leadership boat which seems closer to a call to 'Vote Labour with illusions' than to 'Vote Labour without illusions', (something even Socialist Party of England and Wales might have left in their days as Militant Tendency).
Solidarity states 'A strong slate of class-struggle socialist candidates, to ... raise the profile of socialism would be best ... But that is not on the cards.' Quite shamefully this is omitting the SPGB's recent and forthcoming election candidacies, whilst publishing half a page elsewhere on a much smaller (tiny even) group called Workers Power's views on the Ukraine.
